My, oh my

I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated! I never do well with the whole online posting thing. Anyway, we've been pretty busy lately! Rus is gearing up for finals and I'm finally settling in at work. So here's what's been happening for the last two months:

  • We finally got our apartment organized...just don't open the closets
  • Oklahoma City really isn't too bad, but we miss our friends and family
  • We've found a church we like
  • Rus made a trial team
  • We've discovered Orange Tree Frozen Yogurt, which is much better than Lemon Tree (Rus will disagree)
  • People in our complex reeeeaaly enjoy Halloween, or at least decorating for it
  • There are actual seasons here, and Fall came early this year
  • We love eating at Mama Roja...roasted salsa and complimentary sopapillas!
  • We almost bought a puppy, but resisted temptation

All in all, we're settling in! We can't wait for everything coming up in the next couple of months...well maybe we could wait on finals, but we're definitely ready for Wes & Kira's wedding, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/Rus' birthday! Anyway, that's really all we've been up to lately! I'll try to update more frequently, and maybe Rus will offer up his point of view some, too!

Technology

Well, we did it! We decided to splurge and get new phones. I know this probably isn't big news, but I'm updating from my new I- phone!! Technology is crazy! Anyway, I'll oficially update later.

Another One Bites the Dust

Long time, no see blogspot! It seems like this past week went by slow and the weekend flew by. All in all, things were good, though. Friday was payday and I officially feel like an adult! Saturday I came home, slept forever, then decided it was time to get out of the house. Rus and I went to the Apple store, where I made a fun purchase! I'm the proud new owner of a hot pink nano! We also went to another little mall and found a really cool shave shop for Rustin...luckily it was in an interior design store :-) We also found a cute puppy shop. We weren't going to go in, but at the last minute a little Maltese ran to the door. I now want a puppy more than ever, but it just wouldn't be a good idea right now...

Anyway, Rustin had a mock trial tryout today, and he feels like he did pretty well, but we have to wait and see. Other than that, we were lazy today. I slept all afternoon, we went to eat some delicious fajitas, and then Rus slept all evening. Today was exactly what we needed! We don't have much going on this week, so we'll see how it all turns out. Hopefully we're going to the fair next weekend for some delicious fried foods :-)

Is it Saturday yet?

It's official...I survived my first full week of working nights, but I'm still trying to catch up on sleep I think. The week really wasn't so bad though, and we had a fun weekend. Rus's parents came up to celebrate Robbie's birthday so we went and found cute places to shop and good restaurants. It rained all weekend and Sunday came too soon, but all in all we had fun!

Last night, Rus and I had a light dinner and were still awake around 11, so we decided to go get some ice cream...healthy, I know :-) Anyway, we went to Homeland...the nice one...and made it just in time. A little before closing we went to check out and I didn't have my Homeland card with me. I asked if I could use a phone number and the clerk said yes, so I started to type the numbers in on the keypad like you do everywhere else. At that point in time, the clerk laughed and said, uhhhhh you just tell it to me. Rustin promptly responded in a hick voice, "They must do thangs diff'rent here!" The guy kind of laughed and then said, "....what?" I told him he was joking, and the guy rolled his eyes. I realize he was probably unhappy because it was almost midnight and time for him to get off his shift, but cry me a river! Oh well, we had a good laugh about it in the car, then enjoyed our delicious ice cream before bed :-)

Who's your daddy?

So, tonight Rus and I had dinner and we were talking about his class tonight. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he goes to a Wills class, and they were talking about what happens when older men marry extremely young women. Apparently, there have been a couple of cases where the men simply adopted their new, younger wives so that when they died the women would get their share of the will like the men's children...oogie!

Anyway, I think this is going to be a pretty long week, but hopefully it will fly by. I'm working 4 nights this week, but hopefully once I've adjusted to it, it won't be that big of a deal. I know everyone has always looked forward to being in the working world and what-not, but I'm still getting to that point; maybe things will be better after I get my first paycheck. It's my first night of the week and I'm already ready for Saturday to be here!

Speaking of Saturday, we've got a pretty important birthday coming up...even if she doesn't think it's too important. Rick and Robbie are coming up, and we're pretty excited! We've finally got our apartment just about finished, so we're ready to show it off :-) Oh well, time to get my things ready for work!

Somebody Call Mattel

The envy of every young girl has arrived.  Sleep Tech Barbie is here. Parents, prepare to hit the stores early the morning after Thanksgiving and for those of you that prefer to wait until mid-December, prepare to be at the mercy of ebay.  Investors, back up the truck and load your portfolio's with Mattel stock, the register will be ringing early and often.  Sleep Tech Barbie will be the hot toy of the season.

Okay, shifting gears.  H1N1, terrorism, asteroids, dictators named Kim, and Congress, are all dangerous and scary things.  Disaster preparedness is an issue that we should all reflect on in our lives.  If you have a tent or any type of emergency shelter, I implore you to set it up in your living room.  If there is ever a time that you need shelter, it will be very important that you know how to properly set up your tent or other device.  Every American must be prepared.
Move your coffee table and pitch a tent tonight!

I love being married.  I am having so much fun.

So said He!?

Am I really a grown up?

It's official...I'm a contributing member to society now. I went in to work this morning to do some daytime orientation before I start working nights, and I think I'm going to like my new job. I won't meet all the night people until Thursday, but hopefully they'll all be pretty nice. I'm still trying to figure out when I grew up...I can't believe I'm old enough to be married and out in the working world, but I am. Anyway, the "He said" portion of this blog has been buried in books lately, so who knows when he'll decide to update, but stay tuned...it's coming!

Puppy? I think not...

I think Rustin officially has puppy fever. Every day this week he's shown me a picture of a new puppy...what he doesn't realize is that I'll be the one it cries to all day long. Don't get me wrong, puppies are adorable, but I just don't think I'll be able to sleep during the day and be ready for work at night if that cute little puppy is romping around all over my head. Rustin will go to class all day, then come home and the pup will just love all over him before bedtime; not fair at all! Not to mention, it's about to get cold up here, and I really can't see myself following our little dog around in the snow! Anyway, here's the picture Rus showed me today.

It's Camping Season

The weather has been absolutely wonderful here today; it's actually starting to feel like Fall. Rus and I were talking about camping, so tonight Rustin decided it would be fun if we set up our tent in the living room; in fact, he wanted to name this post, "Rustin Pitched a Tent," but I quickly vetoed that. Now, I'm sure you're probably thinking that setting up the tent sounds like a good idea, but our tent sleeps 7 people and is 16 feet long! Rustin opened up the tent, rolled it out in the floor, looked at it and said he wasn't sure if it was such a good idea....then he proceeded to set up all 4 tent poles.

30 minutes later, we had a tent! Thanks to our good friends Brandon and Natalie, we won't ever be without shelter!
